FT traveler. 10+ years. ~70 countries. If you like cool or cold weather I cannot recommend enough traveling to cool or cold places – duh! Love the cold and so I am constantly chasing winter. Easier/cheaper transportation & sleeping. Also, for those long haul flights you might be able to swing biz class lie flat seats and those things are amazing if sleep is important to you. Happy travels!!
Regarding the cheap airlines I would say as a European It’s very normal and obvious that they’re not going to offer any checked in luggage, priority boarding, whatever for the basic price, you just get the flight and random seats and you can go with a backpack which is very good for 30-40 euro two-way ticket.
I think going to a grocery store, doing picnics, cooking at your accommodation…adds to the experience. Eating out is fun but I don’t wanna do that for an entire trip anymore.
Great video!
First, I make sure to use my credit cards to book the flight and use it (or them) in the airport. That way if there’s a problem, they can tell by the paper trail that I’m traveling. I don’t usually call them ahead of time. Second, I have Verizon, and my phone is “unlocked” for international travel. Once I turn my phone off of airplane mode, it kicks in for unlimited data and calling that renews at a specific time every day. If I turn on airplane mode or am only using WiFi that day, I don’t get charged. Once I had it “unlocked” I’ve never had to call and let them know since then.
